Shine Forms Tablet overview

The Shine Forms tablet app is the on-site companion to Shine Forms Desktop (Pirform). It is available now on both Apple iPadOS and Android tablets, with the same feature set on each platform.

Supported platforms

The tablet app runs on the following devices:

  • Apple iPad running iPadOS
  • Android tablets

Both versions share the same feature set. The tablet app is a native app installed from your device’s app store — it is not a web app and does not require a constant internet connection to work.

How the tablet app works with Shine Forms Desktop

The tablet app and Shine Forms Desktop are designed to be used together. Work done on the tablet uploads into your Shine Forms account and can then be opened in Shine Forms Desktop. This enables scenarios such as a team of engineers working on a large inspection, and a QS merging the work into a main report for issue to the customer.

More specifically:

  • An engineer creates or edits a certificate on the tablet, on site.
  • When the tablet has an internet connection, the engineer uploads the certificate to their Shine Forms account.
  • The website generates the PDFs and stores the certificate against your account.
  • Back in the office, Shine Forms Desktop can download the uploaded certificate from your account so that a QS can review it, merge it with other engineers’ work, or issue it to the customer.

Work does not flow in the other direction today — you cannot push a certificate from Shine Forms Desktop back down to the tablet. If you need to hand work to an on-site engineer to continue on their tablet, they should create or open the certificate on the tablet first.

Working offline

The tablet app is a native app that runs on the tablet itself, so you can create new certificates and continue working on existing ones without an internet connection.

You need an internet connection for two things only:

  • Signing in to link the app to your Shine Forms account.
  • Uploading finished certificates from the tablet to your Shine Forms account.

Where certificates are stored

Certificates you are actively working on are stored on the tablet until you upload them.

Once uploaded, the certificate lives in your Shine Forms account until you choose to delete it. You can access the generated PDFs from your account, and Shine Forms Desktop can download the certificate from there for review.

Creating a Shine Forms account

You need a Shine Forms account before you can sign in on the tablet. Registration is free — see registering a new account.

Installing the tablet app

After you have a Shine Forms account, install the tablet app from the appropriate store for your device:
