Pirform is Now Shine Forms. Why We've Rebranded Our Electrical Certification Software

For 15 years, our software was called Pirform.

If you’ve been using it for a while, you’ll remember why. PIR stood for Periodic Inspection Report – the form every electrician knew. When we launched, PIR forms were the industry standard. The name made sense.

Then BS 7671 changed.

Periodic Inspection Reports became Electrical Installation Condition Reports. EICRs replaced PIRs. The electrical industry updated its terminology, its forms, its processes. Our software kept pace with every change.

But the name didn’t.

We were still calling ourselves Pirform – named after a form type that hasn’t existed for years.

It was time our name caught up.

Why We Chose the Name Shine Forms

Here’s something most electrical certificate software gets wrong. They call everything a “certificate.”

Technically, an EICR isn’t a certificate. It’s a form. The certificate is the piece of paper that says an installation is safe. The EICR is the form that records the inspection and testing data. Same with EICs and Minor Works – they’re forms that produce certificates.

Our software has always understood this distinction. We produce forms that generate certificates. So when we chose a new name, “Forms” had to be in there.

Why “Shine”?

Because your work should reflect its quality. Professional forms. Accurate data. Regulation-compliant certificates. Work that shines.

And with Gary Gundry now ensuring BS 7671 is built directly into our software, we can say with confidence that everything Shine Forms produces is 100% correct.

What is Shine Forms?

Shine Forms is electrical certification software with built-in regulation intelligence.

Unlike software that simply prints what you enter, Shine Forms checks your values against BS 7671 as you work. When something doesn’t comply with current regulations, you see it straight away.

The software supports all the forms and certificates you need.

  • Electrical forms and certificates (BS 7671) – EICR, EIC, Minor Works
  • Fire safety certificates (BS 5839) – Design, Installation, Commissioning, Verification, Inspection & Servicing
  • Emergency lighting certificates (BS 5266) – Full certification support

Whether you’re a sole trader producing domestic electrical forms or a large contractor managing multiple engineers across commercial projects, Shine Forms ensures every form is regulation-perfect.

Working with Gary Gundry

We’re now working with Gary Gundry, who sits on the international committees that help shape BS 7671. He’s ensuring our authentic regulation intelligence is verified directly against BS 7671.

We’ll be sharing more about Gary and what this means for your forms and certificates in a separate post. Watch this space.

What’s Staying the Same

Changing our name doesn’t mean changing what works.

Your login still works. Your certificates and forms are safe. Your settings haven’t changed.

The software you’ve relied on for years is still here – same regulation intelligence, same accuracy, same support team that picks up when you call.

We’ve been producing electrical forms and certificates for 15 years. More than 650 electrical contractors trust Shine Forms. That’s not changing.

From Pirform to Shine Forms. 15 Years of Electrical Certification Software

When we started, electrical certification software was basic. You typed in values, it printed a form. That was it.

We wanted more. We wanted software that helped electricians get things right. Software that understood BS 7671, flagged errors before they became problems, and produced professional forms and certificates every time.

Pirform delivered that for 15 years.

Now Shine Forms takes it further. With tablet apps for onsite work. With BS 7671 Amendment 4 ready before the regulations even launch. With regulation expertise you can trust.

Same commitment to accuracy. Same focus on making electrical certification easier. Better name.
